“The magic you’re looking
for is in the work ur avoiding”
For many years,
I used my acting/writing career as an excuse to
avoid doing the personal work required to have
the life I wanted.
One day, I was a coaching
a writer & when we got to
the end of our note session,
April: Well this is compelling & I want to know more...a cast of well-rounded, complicated characters except for one, the protagonist. Why do u think that is?
Writer: Bec the protagonist is me.
April: So u can imagine fully realized, emotionally complicated personal lives for others, but not urself?
Writer: Damn, I need to get a personal life.
April: Many artists use the constant occupation w/their careers to avoid having a well-rounded personal, spiritual, family, love-filled life.
They’d rather imagine characters doing that perfectly rather than doing the personal work required
to have that.
You can’t write well,
what u don’t know.
