![]() “Let the world know in no uncertain times what you plan to do. When I came to New York...I had no agent, no job. I stood in front of Broadway houses—I didn't care who saw me—and I said, "How are you?" to the theater. "I will be seeing you soon, and I will not be in the audience. I will be on your stage, & thank you." I did it countlessly. Don't obsess abt the details of how. Just let the universe know, "Excuse me. I'm coming. I'll be here in a minute. And thank you." Gratitude. I remember those days of loneliness a& despair. When I didn't have an audition or anything happening, I would go straight to the bedroom, I would take out my monologues, & I would do them. & I would remind myself in the mirror, "You are an actress & u are in charge of ur life." It is not for others to say—no, yes, anything—U are in charge. That is the gift u came into this world with.” - Ann Dowd U do not have to be good. U do not have to walk on ur knees For a hundred miles through the desert, repenting. You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves. Tell me abt ur despair & I will tell you mine. Meanwhile the world goes on. Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain are moving across the landscapes, over the prairies & the deep trees, the mountains & the rivers. Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air, are heading home again. Whoever u are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to ur imagination, calls to u like the wild geese, harsh & exciting — over & over announcing ur place in the family of things. -Mary Oliver This Sunday, I’ll be doing a live class on Finding ur Gifts, UR deepest emotional chords that make u uniquely qualified for certain roles. They are already urs once u know why u, the actor, are fully in charge of ur career Then u can move from BEGGING to be seen to EXPECTING to be seen SignUp @ www.TheDreamUnLocked.com/DreamingOutLoud-Tools-SignUp
