ok what black actresses are going to see Southside & You this weekend? if ur not, then clearly ur down to play nurses, maids & social workers who serve no other purpose in the script other than to tell the white hero's story... fuck reviews, or not liking romcoms...this is business...when u buy a tix opening weekend, u r casting a very important vote: u r saying keep this movie in theatres and start making more immediately... so when u dont support films that have roles in them for you & great stories abt black people being moré than just poor & oppressed...u r also sending a clear message to studios, distributors and the creatives that make the work.. ur saying u dont care abt these stories...i'm speaking as a producer... go to wikipedia and look up any american film...every single one has opening weekend box office numbers which directly correlate to how much the movie grosses... and when a movie makes profit opening weekend, come Mon, studio execs are callingagents trying to get another project just like the box office succes story...yes... its just that fast, if we dont give a fuck abt our stories, why should studios lose money keeping them in movie theatres? go see southside, make a smart black actress business decision...tell the studios to make moreof our stories by buying a tix opening weekend... it has to be opening weekend... the entire future of a film relies on those numbers
