Did you know?
Hey Folks: Almost all actors have production companies...it's how they handle their careers...every actor has a lawyer on retainer, a publicist, agents, managers...they pay a lot of people to manage their careers...the are mini corporations unto themselves...esp now with the new C corp laws...but this has always been the case... Those production companies didn't necessarily produce content, they were just the corp structure for each actors career. now however, successful actors who can get their projects greenlit by networks are actually creating production companies that actually create movies, tv series...they are creating content... mostly these production companies find and option scripts and then try to sell those scripts back to networks with themselves as executive producers or stars.... that's why almost all long running successful shows have the star of the show listed as the exec producer...it's how actors ensure that they will always have an income long after the show has stopped running... So having a production company is standard business practice in the industry and has always been....what's new is that actors of color are actually creating work of their own and producing it... There's no conspiracy theory going on.... Folks should google the business structure of being a successful actor so that instead of just taking classes and acting, you actually learn how to create a business structure that will protect you in this industry... It's time for everyone to do a little catch up and learn how Tyler's Business model works....it's called running your own little studio and we're al so interested in being seen that we never take time to learn the business...cuz acting is really easy if you focus long enuf to get the training...the business is hard as fuck... but that's why white folks put the business first and we're still playing catch up..
