THINGS I’M GLAD MY MOM TAUGHT ME
by Kami Gray, @psychologieofhome 1. That I can do most things in life with only a basic understanding of math 2. That I am equal to a man in every situation except arm wrestling, pushups, and opening jars. 3. That I don’t need to fit in with the other moms. 4. That being married does not mean being dependent (and my husband is not the boss of me). 5. That being scared and uncomfortable is actually good for me. 6. That I am not weak and hobbled. 7. That I need to give a shit. 8. That I need to act, especially when there is injustice. 9. That a little messy is fine. 10. To eat real food. THINGS MY MOM COULD HAVE, BUT DID NOT TEACH ME: 1. How to cook a home-cooked tasty meal when you’re tired, don’t feel like it, and your kids are being brats 2. How to be a great painter and artist. 3. Science-y stuff. 4. How to design a house from the ground up. 5. How to build that same house from the ground up. 6. That your kids don’t have to like all of your choices and decisions. 7. That people can disappoint you and you can still make them a nice dinner. 8. How to stay married. 9. How to speak French. 10. How to not give a flying fuck what anyone else thinks. THINGS MY MOM TAUGHT ME, BUT SHOULD NOT HAVE: 1. Wine. 2. How to tell people off. 3. Mixing wine with telling people off.” video @everythingaboutnepal • #dancelikenooneiswatching
